“Without respect, there can be no love.”
Do you remember that guy in “Bruce Almighty,” the guy who held up the signs that challenged us to think as well as laugh?
I saw a guy like that in Atlantic City, NJ, a few months back.
He was standing in an empty lot at a major intersection, offering his sign to everyone.
His sign confirmed something I’d been considering but hadn’t yet phrased. His sign turned me around in the best possible way. I didn’t read his sign as much as I was awakened by his sign to higher levels of first transforming my relationship with myself and then transforming my relationships with others. I read his sign as many times as I could before the bus I was on carried me away, and I think of his sign frequently each day.
Maybe his sign will also turn you around in the best possible way. Maybe you’ll also awaken to higher levels of first transforming your relationship with yourself and then transforming your relationships with others.
“Without respect, there can be no love.”
What might this look like for you, the reader?
Are you loving yourself if you’re disrespecting yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually?
Are you disrespecting your body and are you disrespecting your potential by the lifestyle choices you make each day? Do you believe the health of your body, the quality of your life and the lifestyle choices you make aren’t connected? Do you love yourself?
Are you disrespecting your body by living out of integrity with what you know your truth to be? Bodies know when we lie to them, even if our minds try to tell us they don’t. Do you love yourself?
Are you disrespecting your brain by not giving it what it needs to thrive? Are you expecting it to keep working nonstop without giving it enough rest, enough nutrition, enough joy? Do you love yourself?
Are you disrespecting your being by believing your life here has nothing to do with the evolution of your soul? Do you make time each day to strengthen your connection with Source? Do you love yourself?
“Without respect, there can be no love.”
What might this look like for your relationships?
Are you loving yourself and are you loving others by the unconscious relationship choices you make each day?
Are you disrespecting others by not meeting them where they are? Are you making up stories about them, are you expecting them to live up to your expectations that have everything to do with you and nothing to do with them? If you’re disrespecting them, then do you love these people?
Are you disrespecting others by consistently placing your needs before their needs? Are you disrespecting others by not acknowledging they have needs? If you’re disrespecting them, then do you love these people?
Are you disrespecting others by pretending to listen to them? Are you disrespecting others by making promises in one moment you’re not prepared to back up in another moment? If you’re disrespecting them, then do you love these people?
Are you disrespecting others by insisting they continue their relationship with you after they have left? If you’re disrespecting them, then do you love these people?
“Without respect, there can be no love.”
Are you ready to awaken to a deeper relationship with yourself and others?
